The Origin And Procedures Of The Episcopal Church Cornelius NC

By Jennifer Baker

The right to worship is one of the universally accepted rights. Many of the denominations currently in the world originally split form the Catholic faith and then subsequently from the Anglican or orthodox faiths. The Episcopal Church Cornelius NC has its roots in the Anglican faith. In the United States, about one million eight hundred and fifty people are members.

This body set up in America in the early sixteen hundreds, bringing with it Anglican and catholic doctrines. They used the Book of Common Prayer to determine their way of life and for their services. In the seventeen hundreds, this organization split forms their mother faith. They incorporated the Book of Common Prayer but altered it a bit to suit the American ways. Also in this century is when they first spread to North Carolina.

It revolves around some specific things. They focus on the life of Jesus Christ and his resurrection, as well as the existence of the father, son and Holy Spirit. They have also adopted the Anglican way of tradition, wisdom and scripture. They teach the commandment of love as the greatest commandment, along with the holy baptism and the holy Eucharist being the most important sacraments.

It has its own canon laws which give direction to the leaders. The population is divided into dioceses headed by bishops. Below the bishops are the rectors who lead the parish . These as well as the clergy are elected by a bishop council and are charged with the spiritual well-being of the parish.

Compared to a number of the organizations that came up at the same time, this institution can be considered very forward. The faith allowed the ordination of women priests in nineteen seventies and currently has women ordained and serving as bishops. They even have the first female archbishop in history of Christian history, the Most Reverend Katherine Jefferts Schori. Although this initially brought some protests among the wider congregation it was finally accepted.

It also accepted the lesbian, gay and bisexual community at round the same time. They went ahead to ordain a gay priest and allow the union of same sex marriages. The ordination of a gay and non-celibate member as a bishop sparked a lot of protest with divided opinions all through the congregation. It led to the breaking away of some of the members and outright protests within the doctrine. Another controversial issue has been its stand on abortion. The institution seems to side with the right of the mother to terminate the pregnancy. It however does not agree with using abortion as a means of birth control.

The general doctrine has programs established with the aim of helping . They have one that gives scholarships to seminary students. They also have international relief agencies that help in disaster struck areas around the world. They have set up trusts that give scholarships to youth connected to the doctrine.

In this institution, this faith is available to that seeking this religion. They are situated on Davidson Street and have a Sunday service between ten and eleven thirty in the morning. The rector at the organization is Reverend KyleWallace. They also use social media, with a Facebook page and blog on which you can get religious updates.
