While most churches believe in prayers, there are fewer which believe in a meditative process. While this is the case, Biblical Christian Meditation Institute is working to make the practice more accepted in the Christian faith. Birthed out of the God as Christian Ministry, the goal is to make a bigger impact on churches in the 21st century. In the process, the hope is that more individuals will grow closer to God. One way in which the church is attempting to do is through a Christian Meditation Webinar.
As the doctrine is and has been neglected by the Christian churches of past and present, it is also hoped that these efforts will rebirth the practice at a number of institutions. BCMI focuses on a number of classes, workshops and seminars related to the art of Christian meditation. In the process, the institute hopes that other churches will follow suit and incorporate meditative practices on an ongoing basis.
In the Christian realm, the practice is seen as a method of developing and strengthening the relationship between God and the individual. Like with other forms, the individual sits quietly, attempting to let go of any thoughts or concerns to clear the mind. Once the mind is clear, it is believed it is easier for the individual to communicate with God. After which, most individuals begin practicing on a daily basis which builds a bond between the individual and the Holy Spirit.
Studies show that only a small percentage of Christians truly know how to be in the presence of God through a meditative process. As such, only a small percent are actually using the power provided to access the presence of God. While this is the case, those whom can connect with God in this manner often have calmer, stress-free lives.
While there are several forms and styles of meditation, some are easier to understand than others. When it comes to Christians, the concept comes directly from a Bible verse in which God commanded Joshua to dwell upon the word of the Lord. As such, once having put other thoughts aside, Christians often focus on God, Christ, the Holy Spirit or scriptures as a focus of attention.
Founder and Senior Pastor Dr. George D. Hamilton at BCMI is now creating a revival of sorts when it comes to meditative practices being accepted in the church. The purpose of the revival is to train individuals how to meditate in a way than is in line with the gospel while quieting the minds and spirits of congregants. After which, individuals often find it easier to give thanks and communicate with God on a daily basis.
As Chief Operating Officer, author and teacher, the pastor has received a Masters and Doctorates in Philosophy and Religion. Dr. Hamilton also holds a Masters and Doctorate of Theology from the Gulf Coast Theological Seminary. As a result, the pastor serves a number of community members and organizations as well as those connected to the church.
Rev. Hamilton is also Chancellor at Rhema Bible College in Summerville, South Carolina. In addition, the reverend is also the Chief Operating Officer of the Successful Living Learning Institute. As this is the case, Mr. Hamilton also teaches a number of classes which can be found on the Success Living Learning Institute website. Whether attending classes at the college or viewing a webinar, most often people find a great deal of enlightenment in the lectures and stories shared by teachers and fellow students.
