How To Enjoy Your Time At First Baptist Church Columbia

By Susan Scott

You might like going to Church, but then again you might not enjoy it so much. There is a lot that can make you not appreciate going to the house of worship but then if you really want to go, there is a lot that you can do to make sure that you enjoy your time there. When going to First Baptist Church Columbia, here is what you can do to ensure that you have a worthwhile experience.

Take part in the activities that have been organized for the congregation. If there is something that is going on, try and attend. Also, you can be proactive and choose to join some of the ministries. Approach the leadership and ask them areas that are available for members to be a part of. The more engaged you are, the better, since it will encourage you to be a dedicated member of the congregation.

Do not isolate yourself, rather, try and socialize with other people with the aim of making friends. There are a lot of people who may not have friends and they may just be looking for people to interact with. You can give support and encouragement to others, especially those who are going through a hard time.

Being spiritually prepared for the experience you are expecting that day will make you gain a lot from the service. This includes taking time to pray for the service, leaders and congregation. You can also read the scriptures that the morning's text will be based on. This will put you in the right spiritual frame to receive that day's message.

Going with other people will make your experience much more enriching. If you live with other people, invite them to accompany you. This can be your family members or pals. You can then discuss about your experiences and share things that have gone on during the service. Going with someone can also encourage you to go for service even on those days that you don't feel like going.

Try as much as possible to be punctual. This requires that you plan out your time well. It is better to arrive a few minutes to the service rather than later. If you arrive before time, you can take some time to chat with a few people before you go for service.

Also, take time and have fellowship with other people after the service has ended. Do not leave right after service has ended. This is the best way to get to know others and what is going on in the ministry. You can even decide to invite a couple of people over to your home for lunch or you can go to a restaurant.

It is also important that you find a good seating position when you arrive. A good position will make it easier for you to see the front, the speakers and everything else that is going on. This will help to keep your attention, so that you can be in touch with everything else that is going on in the service.
