Religion is in the DNA of the typical human being. Even before man learned about science, he was already thinking about religion. The Christian religion shapes morality and it gives an individual purpose in life. Churches in Columbia MD greatly shape the character of people. They transform sinners into righteous members of society. The message of Christianity is a message of righteousness. This is what should be preached every Sunday by the pastor. A good preacher does not flinch when it comes to the issues of sin, repentance and righteousness. The Bible is about those three matters.

One can see a church as a building. However, that is not the case. The true meaning of the word church is a body of believers. It is the congregation that makes up a Christian church. The building is just a mere structure that holds people and the different instruments of prayer and worship. However, the building also deserves to be respected.

Every church has a head. It is just like every flock needs to have a shepherd. There must be a person who usually feeds the congregants with the good messages from the Holy Book. Such an individual occupies a very special place and believers will look to him for direction. Thus, he must never live a wayward life in any manner.

The Catholic Church is headed by the Pope who is based in the Vatican. The Pope is usually elected by a group of very senior cardinals. Below the Pope are the Cardinals and below them are the archbishops. There are also priests. A priest will direct the day to day operations of a parish but he is answerable to leaders above.

Not every church is centralized. Many Protestant churches are decentralized in nature. One of the Protestant churches that operate in a centralized manner is the Anglican Church. For the case of Baptist Church, which is based in America, one can find many independent Baptist churches that have their own independent leaders and do not have any other higher affiliations.

The leader offers direction while the church attendant should pay a close ear to all the messages that are being preached. One should be very attentive during service so that he does not miss anything that is being preached. After service, an individual should strive to apply everything that he has learned. It is more than just listening to preaching.

The preaching can come from any book of the Bible. In most cases, it is usually based on the gospels. These are the earlier books of the New Testament. A pastor can also decide to preach from the Old Testament. Both testaments are important. What is prophesized in the Old is fulfilled in the New Testament. Prophesy is important.

The most vital Christian institution is the Church. The family is also an important Christian institution. A real Christian will respect family values. He will shun divorce at all costs because according to the Bible, divorce is sin. Members of a church must act as family members. There must be brotherhood and sisterhood. It is all about the message of love.
