Christian Education Principles For Teachers That Improve Learning

By Catherine Burns

Every Christian needs some tutelage on Christian issues at some point in life. Those who are strong in the faith must have been coached when they were little or even at an older age when they first knew the Lord. The educational needs of Christians whether young or old can be given when there are trained teachers around and if the right principles are in place. That is why Christian education principles for teachers must be known to make it easier for both the student and the tutor.

It is necessary that the teacher has some experience in whatever topic is to be taught. For example, if the topic is on "quiet time, " the teacher should be the type that doesn't joke with his or hers. This is because several questions will be asked and the extent to which justice would be done to them depends largely on the tutor's personal quiet time practice.

One way to know if your students are actually getting it is by analyzing the kind of questions they ask. Some questions may reveal an in-depth understanding while others may show a shallow comprehension of the lesson. While it is easy to be easily angry for a student's poor performance, it shouldn't be clearly expressed. Allow them to ask all their questions and from there, you can tell how much work you have left to do.

In fact, it wouldn't be bad to dedicate some time towards the end of every class for answering questions. By doing this, the students are prepared to ask whatever bothers them and even feel challenged when they have no question to ask while the others are expressing their views on the subject matter discussed. Students, especially in a Bible school, love asking questions when their teacher encourages them to do so.

Many people who claim to have the word actually preach heresies. Unfortunately, one may not be capable of knowing except if he or she has gotten sound teaching elsewhere. The children are the most vulnerable in this aspect so parents should ensure that the teachers that handle them teach only what is contained in the Bible.

The principle of time management is actually very important. If you are a good time manager and you own a school where people learn God's word, you will find out that you can combine many programs. You can, therefore, create ample time to deal with any particular subject.

When teaching the little ones, it is necessary to use illustrations and present the lessons a little at a time. There would be no need to rush a class because that would be to the detriment of the students as they may end up gaining nothing at the end of the day. Depending on the age of the students, you may allocate 20 minutes to 60 minutes for a topic.

The benefits of Christian education cannot be overemphasized especially for parents who want to make sure that their children get the right teachings. For such parents, two things must not be neglected. They must know the tutor's background and be sure that the center is conducive to learning.
