If you are a coach or mentor, you must have people skills and excellent communication skills. These are the things that help you relate with people. More so, a coach should be an understanding person that is always ready to offer help when needed. Also, you should continue learning how to connect with people better so that you can provide the guidance that you are supposed to. There are so many coaches that have dropped because of a lack of connection with people. To become a better coach, you should understand important things about Coaching for Millennials.

The first thing you should know is that you need to be empathetic and authentic. Be who you are without pretending. People always like or enjoy the company of people that are true to self. This is because these people can understand what they are going through. Therefore, as a mentor and coach, you need to put yourself in the shoes of the person you are coaching.

Additionally, do not think that you know better than the people you are coaching. Some of these people may be knowledgeable than you. Gone are the days when young people would obey their elders. This is a different generation where these people can find better means to acquire the information they need. Therefore, be upfront with these people from the first day you meet them. This will help you reach them better and easier.

Additionally, it is critical to know when praise is needed and when it is not. Young players like praise but this will not help them. Do not praise them even when you ought to scold them. Many irrelevant praises will make them relax, and they will not achieve their goals. Thus, let them work hard to earn the compliments they deserve.

Also, this generation does not like waiting. They always want to get things right away. This may work for some people or things but not all the time. Hence, it is wise to train them on how to be patient. Teach them that waiting is not that bad after all as you can get what you want and even better. This will help them to be more patient.

Moreover, this generation is addicted to technology, and it finds it more comfortable. Nevertheless, it is not practical to develop people skills on the web. To have better person-to-person skills, these people need to relate with people one on one. More so, they need to learn how to communicate directly with people so that they can have better people skills.

The good thing with this generation is that they can do what it takes to get what they want. They tend to be super-focused on the things they do. However, having diversification is encouraged. Things change so fast and to keep up, they must have more goals in life.

More so, strive to create a good and real relationship with these people. Create a good connection with them so that you can have a healthy relationship. Understand that they are not different and they want things that other people want like a good family and a good job.
