Observation Of American Muslim Civil Rights

By Nancy Stone

The world nowadays is characterized by the phenomenon of Globalization. Most societies in this day and age are characterized by the Melting Pot, or the amalgamation of cultures. Looking at it all from outside the bubble, one might think that the negative influences of prejudice, bigotry, xenophobia, and the likes, are all things of the past. Needless to say, this is not the case, and just perhaps everyone will benefit to a certain extent from knowing snippets of american Muslim civil rights.

This is further complicated by the fact that American Muslim is not the narrowest sense of the term. There are still subdivisions in each, making them as diverse as ever before. Although demographic statistics show that there is no majority race, its worth noticing how theres a considerable percentage of certain races and ethnicities. These are also major factors in the discrimination experience and consequent debate.

Anyway, the demographics paint a picture of almost equal quarters of blacks and whites, both of them making equaling the whole half when appended together. And then you also have a considerable number of Asians and Arabs. A small 7 percent are mixed, and the littlest percentage at 5 make up the Hispanics. And then theres likewise the case of them having been native or foreign born, or basically if theyre also citizens.

And keeping the distance is not something that the prejudiced would like to bother with on their part. Rather, they expect the seeming outsiders to stay in their orbit and to not toe the line. This is where xenophobia and Islamophobia come in. Some extremists just cannot fathom the fact of peaceful coexistence and resort to unethical and unscrupulous ways and means to downgrade those that they deem to be outsiders.

Along this tangent, you also have education discrimination. Anti bullying initiatives take up the mettle here. After all, with so many youngsters cooped up in a place, and not all of them emotionally and sensibly mature, some kind of shenanigan may perpetually be underway. This may also touch on some issues regarding a schools administration and other departmental issues.

To proactively fight for civil rights, many organizations are working to combat the stigma of discrimination and work to forward their adherents best interests. They could be a verified association in which a great number of people are necessarily a part. Demographics may be definitive, such as when the membership is made up mostly of immigrants, and the like.

Demographics are taken into account, and since xenophobia is something thats not limited to a particular race, ethnicity, and religion, other people tend to be lumped up in the same category with the American Muslims. That includes Arabs in general, and also the Sikhs and South Asian communities. These movements aim to do away with the violence and threats directed toward these demographics just because of their ethnicity and religion.

The hate crimes take up a whole spectrum. Theres implicit or explicit discrimination, and theres the destruction of private property, and then violent threats to all out assaults. Some even boiled down to deaths. Whatever the case, these instances are always unfounded, most especially since they were borne out of ignorance and stereotyping, and that should never be the case.

Islamophobia does not have to be openly hostile. Any kind of differentiation, or just the expression that youre treating a person differently because of his religion and way of life constitutes this bane to society. Its the expression of hostility, hatred, and even fear. This expression of fear is definitive of negative stereotyping. All this can be countered with a tidbit of proactivity, and the preclusion of negative worldviews that are detrimental to the peaceful living of ones countrymen.
