Secrets In Cleaning Glass Pipes

By Dawn Williams

Having glass pipes which have not yet been cleaned for a long time can have a lot of dirt which have already hardened. However, it is still possible to the cleaning by yourself. Here are some tips to do it in a simple way.

Remove any particles which should not have been there by simply turning it upside down and tap it gently. Then flush the inside portion with running water so that any dirt that has attached will also be removed. Use caution in holding the wet object because it might slip in your hands and be dropped.

The most common and tested way of doing it is by using of rubbing alcohol. Obtain a resealable plastic bag or a sandwich bag and fill that with alcohol but only placing a sufficient amount enough to fill the bottom part. Be sure that the solution is adequate to submerge the object upon placing it inside the bag.

Then place the bag with the thing inside being submerged in alcohol in the microwave and set it for about ten seconds. Be sure to wait a little until you see the alcohol boiling which usually happens rapidly. Never let it stay for too long because that will only cause the plastic to melt or that the glass itself could be damaged.

Open the microwave, take out the bag and shake it so that the alcohol will go into the tubing to remove any remaining particles inside. Do not take the thing out yet because it still needs soaking over the night to loosen up any hardened debris. Make sure that it is sealed properly and have it soaked for eight up to ten hours.

After the thing has been soaked, take it out from the plastic and rinsing it with running cold water should follow. However, there will still be occasions when deposits would stubbornly remain especially in cases where it took long before it is cleaned. Pipe cleaners can take off the stubborn dirt or a piece of cotton ball can also do the task and then rinsing it follows.

Dry the object thoroughly before using it again to complete the entire cleaning process. Another way of doing it however includes that us of boiling water for individuals who do not prefer the use of alcohol. Obtain a small pot filed with an enough volume to cover the object and have it be placed on the stove.

After it has been brought to boil, the heat should be reduced to cause only simmering and by that time the object can be placed safely but make sure that it would be entirely submerged. Ascertain that you already have removed any particles inside. Simmering will be good for only twenty up to thirty minutes then rinsing follows.

In cleaning your glass pipes, be sure not to put them in boiling water if they are cold because it will cause their shattering but warm them first with your palms. If the boiling method will be use, expect that the entire house will be filled with a strong odor. Be sure to wash them well before using.
