Howard County needed another state attorney after the resignation of the then holder of office. This post had to be filled by Dario Broccolino as a stand-in attorney. Years later, this man would become the elected attorney of the county. Before ascending to this interim position and being formally elected as the office bearer, he had been working as the deputy attorney in this same office from 1999.
Before becoming an attorney, Dario had worked as a coordinator and as the Executive Director in the association Maryland attorneys for approximately eleven years. He later came to serve within the capacity of assistant attorney of state in Baltimore. During this time, he served together with four properly elected attorneys. In this capacity, the description of his job included making prosecutions on economic matters, crime, arson and hard drugs.
Dario was born, raised and schooled in Baltimore. He was admitted to Loyola College in Maryland, and he would go ahead to get his undergraduate degree in the year 1967. In later years that followed, he went to Baltimore University and got a J. D degree. After some years he got an advanced degree in law. He specialized in taxation law. Before he went into practicing law, he taught social studies in some two high schools within the county. He later joined Maryland School of Law as one of among the people charged with the duty of providing leadership in the adjunct faculty.
This man has been a leader in very many areas that require different types of skills and knowledge. He has been a president at the association of state attorneys, has received several appointments from the governor; to the victims services and medicinal marijuana board in 2013 is a good example. Before this, he had been appointed to the cease fire commission whose purpose was controlling the use of firearms and reduction of violence.
During the 2000-2008 period, Dario was picked by the the state governor to join the Maryland Handgun board. The governor who succeeded the previous one had no option but to re-appoint him into the same board up to 2008. At the moment, he is privileged to be one of the members of the Association Bar employees of Maryland and James Macgil Court. He is also among the members Howard Bar Foundation.
Mr Broccolino has resided in this county from 1975 to date. He is the current president of Ellicott City Volunteer Fire Department. He also worked in the capacity of treasurer at the Saint John Community Association. It is clear how busy he is because of the many leadership positions he has.
He has equally been a very active member of youth sports in the county. He has worked in this sector in several leadership and facilitator positions for many years. Attending to all these activities and jobs is not an easy task, but this man has managed handling all of them for all this time.
He was married to his wife approximately forty years ago. Donna Broccolino is the name of his late wife. She died several years ago, and all along, he has managed his family alone. The residence of this family has never changed for all these years. Dario and his wife had two children, and currently, he has several grandchildren.
