Why The Recycled Pallets California Firms Offer Are A Very Good

By Rosella Campbell

One of the things that all companies who receive, store, manage and ship things need are pallets. They may be the old wooden ones or fiberglass or even polyvinyl ones, however, they all have one thing in common. They are not really the cheapest item and those companies do need a lot of them. That is one of the reasons to look into the recycled pallets California firms provide.

The life of a pallet is a somewhat mixed bag of ups and downs and heavy lifting. The wooden pallet is made from pieces of wood that will not usually see the walls of a home or fine piece of furniture. The standard unit is usually between 24 by 48 inches and 48 by 48 inches. They are created by mass production and each one, depending on the size in the run, will be the same. This is important as most racking systems are designed based on these dimensions.

Wooden platforms such as these are used for any number of things. Moving parts and chemicals around is one of them. They are designed of light weight yet sturdy stringers and slats. The slats are designed to allow the placement of materials with space for liquid to escape though the top. Stringers, of course, are for the strength and fork lift fork placement.

One of the things these items had to handle was the outside, even in horrible weather. They held their load or were simply stored outside because it was easier to do this than hold them inside. This contributed to their inevitable breakdown. They were usually used for only a short time and then were picked up by the recyclers.

Each type of pallet must be recycled in a different way. The act of recycling makes things that have lost their usefulness into things that are useful again. The first job of these recyclers is to identify what type is there and what needs to be done with each one. Many of these firms will take the entire item apart so that it can be rebuilt from the good original pieces and as many replacement parts as is needed.

When dealing with wood pallets, any slats that are broken must be removed and replaced. This is usually done with one from one of the other pallets or pieces secured from the stack they have standing by. If a stringer has a problem, this can be remedied with a splice with another piece of wood.

The composition type pallets, such as fiberglass or polyvinyl will need a slightly different process for recycling. After a brief inspection, as long as the basic structure is sound, they are cleaned with high pressure. A patch is applied to any holes and cemented in place with high heat. These types are stronger and can withstand a bit more abuse than others.

When looking for a good idea and an environmentally smart thing to do, buy your pallets from a recycling firm such as this. They can make sure the unit will last a long time and that makes a lot of people happy. There is no reason to use virgin made materials and the costs will be less anyway.
