Taking care of your piercing is the same as taking care of the wounds that you have. It is vital to take care of it to avoid having fistula, which can be really a problem. Do not wear filthy or too tight clothing on the area. Your hand should be disinfected well before you touch it because your hands contain bacteria.

You should keep its area dry all the time. Using of ointment can also keep the oxygen and can certainly slow down its healing process. Do not apply make up or stuff such as shaving cream, perfumes and other strong substances. You must also get rid of using charms from your jewelry until it is completely healed.

You should not sleep on it while the healing process continues. Do not clean it too much because doing so more than twice a day for instance is not recommended. It can definitely slow down its process of healing. Do not use band-aids on the area as well because it prevents air circulation and may cause irritation.

Cleaning your wounds after swimming or doing any activity cannot be effective in avoiding infection. You have to avoid body fluids and oral contact that are not your own. Any body fluid like sweat is not that harmful but you still have to clean it. You should also wash your hands prior to doing any contact near the healing wound.

You should wear breathable and clean fabric around the area of the piercing. Avoid wearing clothing around it to avoid affecting its condition. The bedding must be totally clean all the time as well. You should also leave the starter jewelries in for the minimum healing time.

Having a healthy lifestyle is also required for it to heal faster than the usual. As much as possible, you have to stay away from drugs and alcohol. You should also get rid of stress and eat plenty of nutritious foods to experience the benefits. You have to consider having a shower than taking a bath.
