Advantages Of The Stainless Steel Hex Bar

Bodybuilding is a large area of physical training and exercise. Usually, people who are trying to develop their muscles or strength make use of weights or other equipment. One of the most common and also oldest pieces of equipment is the bar, or barbell. The stainless steel hex bar is one variation of this piece of equipment.

The principle behind the barbell is extremely simple. It is simply that the weight is raised using both hands at the same time, at an even height. Some people shift the weight to knee height (dead-lift), others to shoulder height, and sometimes even right above their heads. Unlike the dumbbell, the bar makes it possible for them to shift greater weight because they are using both hands.

The barbell has not remained static in its design over time. The older, more classic style, which is simply the straight bar with the weight plates on either end, is still used and remains the simplest option. Yet there are aspects of its design that are worth discussing and which have been targeted by later versions.

One such aspect is the way that the hands grip the bar. If the straight bar is used, the hands grip it at an angle. This can, in turn, place the wrists under stress, since they are flexed at an angle. This may lead to pain in the wrists, since they change their angle as the bar is lifted into the air. A joint changing its angle under extreme strain, such as the weight of the plates, can contract injury.

The EZ bar (pronounced easy bar) negates this issue through its zigzag design. It uses the same material and specifications as the straight bar but it has a zigzag shape. The person is then able to grip and raise the bar with straight wrists. The hands can be positioned directed outwards or inwards, depending on the user's preference. This is the EZ bar's primary aspect of improvement.

The hex bar is a more sophisticated version of the bar. Its name is self-explanatory - instead of a single straight bar, it has two bars forming a hexagonal space. Furthermore, there is a handle on either side of this space. Like the EZ bar, it has the same material specifications as the other variations.

Of course, as soon as the design of exercise equipment is modified, new exercises and training approaches become possible. The hex bar allows for different methods of lifting, some of which are not possible with the more traditional bar designs. As an example, the person can stand inside the aperture and then lift the weight around themselves, using the handles. Standing directly between the weight plates is not possible with other designs, which require the weight to be lifted in front of the person, something that can cause injury or discomfort.

The designer of a new piece of exercise equipment might be able to devise exercises which ordinary users don't think of. This is why you should do some homework on what is possible with the hex bar before starting to use it.
