Giving Up Your Pursuit Of Happiness

By Evan Sanders

Happiness isn't somethign that just shows up in our lives whenever we feel like it. Happiness depends on our actions.

End your pursuit of happiness.

Maybe Hollywood, magazines, talk shows etc. wouldn't really like this idea too much because it would cut down on viewership if people followed through with it, but I'm going to say it again. End your pursuit of happiness.

Rather, understand that it is in our daily actions and growth all though life that we truly find fulfillment, and in the end of it all, deep and true happiness.

I'm not actually suggesting that contentment isn't an incredibly important aspect in each of our lives - it would absolutely be ignorant to claim such a thing. What I am simply proposing is that maybe there really is a different track we can take that will lead us to larger happiness all throughout our life. Possibly we really should be targeting more about the development of our mind, body, and soul each and every day in tiny increments to guarantee that we are continually growing and changing in positive ways? This is going to be a fascinating alternate trail to take rather than looking for something that we are able to never really grasp onto.

If we are continually growing, we feel that we are making progress in our lives and are thus happy with how things are going. However, aimlessly searching for an emotion that cannot truly be gripped onto like other emotion we experience seems a bit hopeless in the first place. There needs to be an alternate way of doing things that will help us get more successful in life in the long run.

So what if you tried on this idea for some time and authorized yourself to focus on growth instead of happiness?

Who can say what might happen?

All I know is that fulfillment in life is attached to personal development and growth and that contentment really isn't far behind.

Food for thought.
