From a theological perspective, atonement is also referred as Yom Kippur in the Jewish community. People are given a chance for a fresh start in their life. You can choose to amend all your sins. This is done by apologizing, fasting and praying. It is important to make peace with your peers for all your wrong doings. At the end of day all your bad record is closed and a new ledger begins. People should have the hope of closing the Day of Atonement with a good record.

This is a special moment when people stop all their businesses to amend their relationship with God. They go for long without food, sing songs with trumpets and repent all their transgressions so that they can be forgiven. People refer this day as the most holy. These bring people together and build their broken relationship with their creator.

In the bible the scriptures clearly state that people who commit sins are booked by God. The lord closes the names in a way that no one can delete them. They will be used during the judgment day. The Jews are not an exception. They use this day to confess and repent all the sins they have committed. This helps them to bring back the good relationship they had lost with others and their soul sustainer.

During festivals people perform rituals to mark those days. On the other hand, the Jews are also on the front line to show to their creator that they can perform rituals to please him. Therefore, they prepare bread that is used to make the ritual. They gather together and walk to a water body where some key leaders are called upon to lead others in prayers. After that, they throw the bread in the water as a sign of casting away their sins.

On the eve of Atonement people do come together in unity to they please their holy one. They carry a chicken to the occasion. The people who are in charge of synagogue are requested to slaughter the bird. After holding several communications with God, they then proceed to give the offering to the poor community. This expresses unity and forgiveness to people.

White clothes are used in many occasions as a symbol of peace. White doves are also known to preach peace messages to the community. The Jews are not left behind this norm. They choose to follow a tradition of wearing white clothes on Yam Kippur. This is as a show of purity and biblical promise that sins that are repented will be made white as snow.

Many followers fast for a whole day for Yom Kippur. Those who cannot make it especially the pregnant women and children are exempted. Some people avoid deodorants for bathing, washing and makeups. They are also advised to shun away from sexual practices during this period of time. Most people close down their work to rest.

This special moment should be embraced by all. They should respect those who are involved in this practice. People need to practice forgiving one another and reconcile this will help people to live in peace and harmony. We should remember to go before our creator and request God to delete our names in the book of offense.
