Why People Like A Purple Turban

By Dorothy Hurley

Turban tying is an art of repeatedly tying a long cloth round the head. This culture has been in existence since the ancient days. It has always been practiced by men and women from different cultures. However, it is most common among the Islamic people. This is because it is part of their culture and also a requirement of the religion. For religious purposes they prefer a purple turban to other colors.

The turban has been in existence since the ancient times. Despite being among the oldest part of dressings, it has not become archaic. This is not the case for many other types of accessories such as hats and Caps. The cloth is not only used for religious purposes, but also for occasions and ceremonies such as weddings.

The Sikhs of Punjabi are the most common people associated with this turban tying culture. This is based on the principles of their religion. The Holy Ghost church of Kenya, however, has also been found to be attached to this culture. These are just a few among several other people in other parts of the world. Residents of the northern part of America, India, Afghanistan, and east Africa and also from the Middle East practice this.

The turbans, just like all the other clothes people wear, need to be groomed and maintained. It is for this reason that manufacturers insist on using cotton and linen for the head gears. These fabrics are known for their durability. They are physically powerful, and are easy to wash and press. Giving this care to the cloth is mandatory so as to leave it looking fresh and clean.

This cloth comes in various colors and sizes. These are determined by various factors, the gender is the most common determinant. Naturally, women have a different taste of color and texture from men. The color and tying style are also determined by the region and culture of the person wearing it.

In the Hindu communities, they preserve dull colors for sad occasions and events. This is because they believe that these colors are meant for sorrowful moods. This is the reason as to why they wear these dull colors to events such as cremation, as well as other official functions. They preserve the bright colors for ceremonies and occasions such as weddings and church events.

In the Caribbean, most people associate blending the turbans with the Rastafarian colors. This is because they believe in the religious significance of the colors. In the western cultures, they associate this wear with beauty. Women associate bright colors with attractiveness and elegance. This is the reason as to why they prefer bright colors to dull ones.

In different areas, turbans are used for different functions. They are used to protect the hair when carrying loads on the head. They can also be used for keeping the head warm. It is for this reason that turbans are enjoying undying popularity. However this is not possible for the purple turban since it cannot withstand lots of dirt. Purple tends to show dirt easily compared to the other colors.
