Using A Fabric Covered Headboard To Spruce Up Your Bedroom

By Kerri Stout

Everything looks absolutely perfect in your bedroom except for your bed. It is hard to match the other furnishings and accessories to just any type of bed frame so you are considering a fabric covered headboard to finish it off. This is a great method of finding the perfect material to add to and match your bedroom decor.

The advantages to using these wonderful bed additions are numerous. First of all, they are relatively inexpensive when compared to the metal, wrought iron or wood models. They are very easily maintained and cleaned. The variety to be had is endless and are quickly located in stores or in a search of online sources. The best thing is that a foot board can be eliminated. It just gets in the way sometimes anyway and blocks views of the television and outdoor scenery.

The materials used in the piece look amazing against a painted or wood paneled wall. It enhances the entire appeal of a room by adding texture and personal style. For example, a dark blue style against a light blue wall will absolutely pop and help make the bed a focal point of the entire room.

These models can be selected and purchased in many styles. They can be straight, curved, ornate, rectangular or very simple. The many sizes available include full, queen, king or twin bed dimensions. If you own a very unusual or odd-sized bed, they can be custom made.

There are so many fabrics to select from and the piece can be upholstered in almost everything from silk to polyester. Linen and suede are also excellent choices. For example, if you have a serene, tropical style with numerous plants and greenery in your room, adding a watered silk piece against a tan or green wall will bring out your theme even more.

Special upholstery touches can make a huge difference. The extra padding will make it look richer and more eleant. Deeper tufts will look truly refined and nail heads can give a masculine touch to the furnishings. For children's styles, attempt to eliminate any buttons, nail heads or other extras that can be pull from the furnishing.

Some variations most don't think of could include floral patterns, checks, plaids, two-tone material, and even an interesting combinations of an upholstered style with a wooden trim. Adding tall headboards can make a tiny, close-in room feel bigger with the illusion of more vertical space. Early American or French Provincial posts can be easily added to the sides of different models so the furnishings will all match. Adding vintage children's print material to the models chosen can add instant impact to a youngster's room.

This type of sensible purchase is easy and inexpensive to add to your room. It is easily changed when new tones and shades are selected or a new decor is put in place. A good upholsterer can replace the out-of-date and shabby material with new styles and designs, keeping your look always fresh and updated.
