The True Need For Some Chaos In Your Life

By Evan Sanders

"You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star." - Nietzsche

Go to the deepest darkest place you can permit yourself to be and see if you can find a little light up in the top right corner?

That little light...is joy. But how could joy exist in such moments? For most of my life, I never really understood this idea. I thought that this little light in the presence of overwhelming darkness was my resilience or something more strength oriented. But what I realized is that no matter how bad things get, our own light is the thing that can keep us going.

I can recollect how it felt in that moment. Everything was totally black. The darkest black you could even imagine. If you have ever seen a black table that has been lacquered thousands of times, the depths appear never-ending. This situation and time in my life was this similar type of black and it was as thick is molasses. It was horrifying.

And yet, there was light always there. The only thing about it was that I wasn't looking for it.

Every single time you go back to these moments and places it will be incredibly difficult. Those secrets have been buried deep for such a long time and you have been so scared to let other people know about them. But eventually, those moments will bubble up to the surface if you don't take care of them when you need to. However, you shouldn't have to live scared. So dive in you must.

Like all dark places, if you bring enough light they can be seen for what they truly are. But even in darkness itself, you have the ability to be a presence of light just being someone who is full of compassion and love. You might not have an external source of power, but you do have an internal source.

Into the depths we dive.

We are the light.
