Ways To Help Yourself In Dealing With A Breakup

By Jose Stone

Being in a romantic relationship with another person is a feeling that is hard to explain because of the mixture of emotions possible. You would not only think now about just yourself but also about them when you make important decisions. Because doing so will not affect only you but also them either directly or indirectly.

But these relationships sometimes end due to various reasons no matter how good or bad the experience was. This is why several people need help for dealing with a breakup due to all their negative thoughts and feelings. The length of their togetherness is not relevant to how greatly affected a person could be with it.

First thing you should do is to express what you feel either through talking to a friend you trust or in writing them out. Suppressing the emotions of loneliness, sadness, anger, rejection is the natural impulse of most people but doing so does not help you move on. Doing this will make you realize why it did not work and why being not with them is better.

Individuals which experienced this usually overly controls their food intake or eats too much of them as their coping mechanism. Doing this while having no idea of the proper way that it should be done is not healthy for you. Be sure you are eating a balanced diet with all the nutritious food possible while avoiding the junk ones.

Start exercising if you did not previously exercise already before your breakup because your stress levels can be lowered by being active. This improves also the cognitive functions and mood plus it provides a good distraction away from unpleasant things. Be careful though in overdoing it as it might become a punishment or compulsive behavior instead.

Remind yourself about everything good that has happened in your life because these experiences can be overwhelmed by one negative event. This is because painful breakups may cloud your judgment and making it almost impossible to not focus on negativity. Listing the things you are grateful for helps in shifts your focus towards positivity.

Do the things that you love to do even before this painful event has happened even though getting excited about these things is difficult. Force yourself in doing the those activities which can make you feel good such as having a massage or coffee with a friend. Watching comedy shows and movies also helps because laughter could boost mood.

Try to perform an obsession diet which you can write, obsess or indulge in self pity all you want but within a limited time only. Start with five minutes an hour and stop immediately after the time runs out and start again after an hour while reducing the time limit every day. You will then realize that your thoughts could be controlled with this exercise.

Your well being might be improved by performing towards others any acts of kindness and this helps in relieving depression. Giving back is a powerful way or rechanneling your love. Helping others empowers you and opens your heart as well.
