Saving Money Tips And Tricks

One simple way to save some cash is to check the lint trap in your clothes dryer and clean it weekly. The dryer uses an extra-ordinary amount of electricity and will run more efficiently saving you money on you energy bill. Considering on average they use 4400 watts to run at an average kWh charge of 11 cent, that dryer is costing 48 cents an hour to run. Reason is that if the screen has lint on it, the dryer has to work twice as hard and drying clothes will take twice as long. Also, built-up lint in your clothes dryer vent is the second leading cause of house fires. You could be saving more than just money. Clothes lines and dryer racks are the most economical way to dry.

Thrift shops can save dollars when shopping for household items. Garage sales, Goodwill have many useful items often selling at pennies on a dollar.

Barber shop visits can dropped if you learn how to cut hair yourself. By paying attention to how a barber cuts hair, all you have to do is duplicate their technique. If you are not that brave, by trimming your hair, you can stretch visits into months in between cuts.

Skipping visits to the local Starbucks or local coffee store is as simple as bringing your own thermos along. If you're a latte drinker, it's even more money out of your pocket. If you take the time to buy your favorite whole bean or French roast coffee and grind it you'll duplicate the taste of expensive store bought coffee.

Use fans for cooling to avoid high air conditioning electric bills. A large window air conditioner uses 1.5 kWh. A 42 inch ceiling fan uses .24 kWh in 10 hours. At an average charge of 11 cents per kilowatt hour, cost mount. Fans are the best money saving cooling device by far. Fans use one-tenth the electricity of air conditioners so use them to circulate the air. Attic fans are another great way to exhaust hot air trapped in the attic and pull cool air through the house at night.

Not all quality entertainment needs to be pricey. Instead of visiting the Big League Baseball park, why not the minor league park. Same competitive spirit and enthusiasm and the majors. Free public orchestras perform in summer months showcasing the piece they worked laboriously on. High school and college plays beat the Broadway price for the exact same script. Then there is arboretums and nature trails which are usually free of charge to enjoy.

At half the price that the bank charges, you too can transform ordinary personal checks into something distinctively uniquely you. There is no reason to settle for ordinary checks. You can reorder discount checks direct from the massive check printer manufacturers and save what a bank would charge.

Another tip is pre-treating stains when washing. Hydrogen peroxide is a great stain remover when mixed one part with detergent and one part with some water in a spray bottle. No need to buy expensive stain pretreatments. Also white vinegar is an inexpensive fabric softener.
