What Sort Of Ideas Go Into Designing Biker Rings For Men

By Tara Daniels

Anyone who is seeking inspiration if they are designing biker rings for men has a wide range of sources on which they can potentially draw. While there are certain images and concepts which are always linked with motorcycle culture, there are also many other places where images and ideas can be found. History, literature, movies and folklore can all be utilized by a clever designer.

Many designers of jewelery and clothing for bikers have sought inspiration from horror films, and they continue to do so. The skull, in particular, is an iconic image which many bikers enjoy wearing, and it is sometimes combined with the crossed bones of pirate designs. The skull is an image associated with death and rebellion, and appeals to the outlaw instincts of bikers.

The 19th century American frontier can also be a good source of many images and ideas when designing jewelery aimed at bikers. Books of Old West photographs can trigger some ideas, while the American Civil War has many military designs which can also be used. Flags and banners, Native American imagery and animal icons can also be inspired by images from this era.

A trip to the cinema can also be very useful for any jewelery designers who are short on inspiration for their latest project. Super hero movies, science fiction, action and war films, as well as the horror movies already alluded to above, can all provide rich seams of ideas. Some film characters are associated with particular sayings or images which can be incorporated into designs.

When designing jewelery of this type, music, especially rock music, provides some great ideas to use. Rock music, and heavy metal in particular, has long been associated in the popular mind with motorcycling, and many bands use imagery which is ripe for inclusion in jewelery designs. Even the words from songs can be turned into images, or transcribed into designs as lettering.

With many motorcyclists enjoying heavy metal music, it is perhaps no surprise that many jewelery designs use imagery taken from fantasy literature, such as the Lord of the Rings. There have long been connections between heavy metal and fantasy storytelling, and fantasy novels can provide plenty of ideas for designers. The source material becomes even richer if the literary source has also been made into films.

It can also be a good idea to use actual motorbike parts as a source of ideas for designs for this type of jewelery. If a biker is especially fond of a certain type of bike, then using parts from that kind of bike can help them to demonstrate their loyalty to their favorite. Some engine parts are also aesthetically appealing when they have been turned into jewelery.

Finding sources of inspiration when designing biker rings for men is actually much simpler than it might first appear. By talking to bikers, and keeping an eye on the media, some good ideas can be found. Biking's outlaw culture means that there are plenty of potential sources on which to draw.
