Table Manners And The Dining Rules And Etiquette Guide That You Need To Have

By Gwen Lowe

It is good to appreciate the need for meal sharing and taking supper together with your friends at home or in the best restaurants around. When your friends invite you to dine with them in a particular place, you need to know how, to behave and some of the dining rules and etiquette guide that govern the way you should dine. You should know the tips that regulate your behaviors when you are out for dinner with your friends.

The first you need to avoid is talking when you have food in your mouth. Although you and your friends would be in a discussion mood, you need to avoid talking shouting or talking when eating. This behavior may make people to have bad impression about you. Where possible, it is good to wait until the right moment when you would not offend anyone. Actually, talking with food in your mouth is bad manners.

Another important factor you must observe is to never shout that you do not like the served table. Actually, this would disappoint your friends and it is not a good idea either. When the food is served, ensure you eat small bit by bit even if you were as hungry as a wolf. Always ensure you force yourself to eat it even though you do not like it.

If at any moment food, should fall off your plate or spoon onto the table, do not pick it up and eat it or return it on the plate. It is considered good manners to avoid presenting yourself as a glutton. Even when the meal is tasty and you cannot seem to be having enough, you would rather have a second helping than pick up fallen food.

As you dine with others, always remember that the small things you do matter just as much as the big stuff. Avoid such behaviors as reaching out for things over the table and other plates. If you need something on the dinner table and cannot reach it, ask for it to be passed to you. This way you do not obstruct other plates of food or have to stand up and go get it yourself which is very unacceptable on a dinner table.

Another behavior to avoid is picking up calls or using your cell phone while on the dinner table. This is very rude to the host and the rest of the people on the dinner table. This is distracting to others and also unhygienic where you are eating with your bare hands. As a preparation to dine with others, put your phone in silent mode or even switch it off.

Always avoid blowing your nose as you dine with the rest on the feasting table. This would be the worst thing that you would ever do to anyone. In the event, that you must blow your nose, it is advisable to go to the restrooms or even outside the room. Blowing your nose as you dine with your guests may make them leave the rest of your meals right on your table.

Another crucial aspect as dine is finishing your meal. Sometime, it is not good when you just take a quarter of the meal in your plate and leave the rest. This would be wastage to some people and it may not be pleasant.
