Four "must Do" Activities When Visiting Maui

By Ella Hemmings

Hawaii is one of the world's greatest destinations, and if you have planned a trip to the island of Maui, you are not alone. More than 2.5 million tourists flock to this paradise each and every year. Once you unpack and settle into your hotel room, here are four activities you should consider taking on during your stay.

Maui is a perfect place for romance, so why not renew your wedding vows while you are here? If you haven't tied the knot yet, Maui is also an excellent spot for a romantic elopement ceremony. The Maui wedding coordinators at Love Maui Weddings have been planning Maui destination weddings for their clients for more than 20 years, and they offer packages for vow renewals, elopements and all sizes of weddings.

If you wish to elope or have a very intimate wedding, the "Simply in Love" package option is a great choice. This package includes everything from a beach permit for up to 10 guests, the services of an Officiant, freshly made leis for the wedding couple, a printed copy of your vows and a keepsake wedding certificate. There also is a vow renewal package that includes a ceremony on the beach, the minister's services, a keepsake bottle of sand and much more.

In addition to the fun and romance of a vow renewal or elopement, there are plenty of other fun options to fill your days. You can spend an entire day on a journey to Hana, which is about 50 miles along a winding road from Kahului to the tiny village of Hana. You can trek through the jungle to a waterfall and spend a few minutes splashing in the waves along the way. One note is that there are almost no services, so you need to bring all of your food and water for the day.

Maui is unique for many reasons, not the least of which is that it is the site of the world's largest dormant volcano - Haleakala. One amazing trek would be to drive up to the visitors' center before sunrise, climb to the peak of Haleakala and watch the sun rise over the island. Then you explore the volcano and spend the day trekking through Haleakala National Park.

Maui is beautiful from the sea as well as when you are on land. You can take a sailboat trip around the island, go out and snorkel and experience what is going on under the sea or enjoy a little bit of whale watching. There are many boat trip options and the provide travelers with another view of this amazing island.
