Information About Florida Divorce Records

By Claire Dowell

FL Divorce Records can be found at the Vital Statistics office of the state's Department of Health. Since June 6, 1927, documents of divorce cases in Florida were kept at the office. Those that occurred prior to the said date remained in the hands of the Clerk of Superior Court of the county where the divorce was made legal.

Citizens are granted access to divorce documents because they are considered as public records. It is permitted to access your own files and it is also possible to get access of other people's files too. Although permitted, getting access to the files of other people is quite difficult. You are required to state your motive why you are requesting other people's files. If the Office Vital Statistics does not is not satisfied with your reason, your request will be denied.

Before you can carry out a search, you must secure the correct request form at the Office of Vital Statistics or download it from their official website. Complete the form with necessary details such as the name of the couple, date of divorce, and where the divorce was made official. Do not forget to include your contact details like your name, home address and phone number. Mail your request to the office along with a valid ID and appropriate fee. If you are unaware where to mail your request, ask the help of the state office and they will forward your request to the correct county on your behalf. There is a fee of $5 for every copy of a divorce file and $4 for additional copies. Fees are not subject to a refund no matter what the outcome of the search process is.

If you have an intention to enter another marriage after failing in a previous one, you have to obtain your own divorce documents. This is especially important when obtaining a marriage license. If you cannot present your divorce documents, your marriage will not be acknowledge by the court even if you go through with a marriage ceremony. So before you jump into marriage, make sure that the person you are about to marry is cleared of his or her previous marriage, if any. Perform a background check on their marital history so you will not experience any trouble with the law in the future. If you just want to gather some details about a divorce case, you can refer to the documents.

Divorce records can also be obtained from online service providers that are authorized by the government to keep the records and provide them to the public. There are many service providers out there but not all of them are legitimate. Before you decide which service provider to do your search on, conduct a background check on them and collect all the facts you can about them until you are satisfied that they are legitimate and not just looking to earn fast money by fooling people.

Online search tools are categorized into two kinds: fee-based search tools and free search tools. Whichever you choose, you will be granted with Divorce Decrees Public Record but the extent of your access to information will be different. Fee-based search tools can supply you with an extensive amount of information regarding a divorce case. There is also a chance to get your hands on the confidential information. On the other hand, free search tools can do just enough to provide you with a file that has the basic information of a divorce.
