How To Continue Growing In Faith

By Martha Morgan

Jesus Christ warned every believer about the consequences of dying without being saved when He was on earth. He laid down many principles that would help new converts to lead godly lives and avoid the dangers associated with disobedience to the word of God. The scriptures also recorded that people who accept Him as their Lord and personal savior would need to remain steadfast in what they believe. There are many practices believers should always carry out to make them remain steadfast and continue growing in faith.

An effective study and devotion to the scriptures would help a Christian to stand firm always. There is no doubt that a consistent reader would know how to handle difficult issues in life. This is due to the wisdom that God gives to every believer who is so keen on studying the Bible at regular periods. Believers should also be willing to read other Christian books and instructional materials for their spiritual uplifting.

The church programs that leaders conduct can make a person build a strong foundation in the word if he attends them regularly. Building a strong foundation is essential in order to make the Christian possess many leadership qualities. Evangelism outreach programs, Bible study groups, and fellowship meetings are good ones that the leaders should always organize in the church or any other place.

Praying frequently is a sure way to establish a strong relationship with God. Due to this strong relationship built with Him, the enemies who tend to attack an individual with different kinds of manipulations would find it difficult to succeed. Also, the person who engages in an active prayer life would build more confidence and maintain steadfastness in the Lord than someone who does not.

Emulating the lifestyle of role models from the Bible can help to grow a Christian spiritually. Also, you can make your pastors and the elders of the church your role models if they are properly grounded in the knowledge and wisdom of God. A healthy relationship with them can make you become the Christian that you desire.

Believers who continue sinning would become spiritually weak sooner than they expect. Weak Christians are more likely to attract to themselves different unfavorable conditions that life may grant. This is why it is necessary to continue to abide by the principles of God to grow the faith, rather than being enslaved in sin.

The fruits of the Holy Spirit are love, joy, peace, self-control, and others. Individuals who accept Jesus Christ into their lives have been assured of these fruits if they earnestly seek for them. It is necessary that a believer receives them due to the spiritual help they provide and the power to overcome the temptation to sin.

Faithfulness in tithing and almsgiving is one of the principles of Godly living as recorded in the scriptures. The prosperity that every faithful giver experiences is capable of encouraging the person to do more and making him remain steadfast in the word of God. This is one of the reasons why much emphasis has been laid on the importance of sacrificial giving.
