How To Master Godly Wisdom

By Peter Ward

Being wise is a higher honor than having earthly possessions. With godly wisdom, you can acquire anything you desire and conquer any obstacle that may block your path. This is what every king or leader should aspire to get. While people are born with knowledge, there must be particular conditions for you to be unquestionably wise.

Read the scriptures to understand what God wants from his people. The scripture is considered as direct message to His people. This means that it is the ultimate source of counsel and foundation of any knowledge that a human being should possess. It is this word that guides you on what is expected of wise people and how to distinguish between worldly and heavenly insights.

Keep the company of wise men and women. The company a person keeps determines the kind of person he becomes. If you keep company of wise people, you will also be wise. If the company is of fools, you will copy their mannerisms. Company teachers you how to act and react in different circumstances. This is better than reading or listening to narratives. It is advantageous since the lessons are taught in real time.

Listen to messengers sent by God. God uses different ways to communicate and explain Himself. There are prophets on earth who will help you decipher and understand what God desires of you. Listen to their counsel and act accordingly. However, be wary of false prophets whose sole purpose is to mislead people and take advantage of their ignorance. Ensure that the actions and revelations of such prophets have been ascertained.

Meditating on the word of God will make you wiser. By meditating, you have higher chances of gaining insights because you think through situations and ideas. You gain deeper understanding of certain issues better than you would listening to people or watching their actions. The insights gained are easier to apply in real life.

Live a life of moderation. This means acting and reacting without haste regardless of the situation you are dealing with. Being wise is more than talk. It must be demonstrated through actions and tested on multiple situations. Your judgment will be poor and disastrous when rushed. By taking time to understand people and situations, you will display your counsel.

Be righteous in your thoughts and deeds. This is consistent with the word and works of almighty God. It will be impossible to act according to the word and expectations of God if your actions are not righteous. A righteous person grows in wisdom and can understand the word of God. Without righteousness, it will be impossible to be deep in your understanding of God and his ways.

It takes time for a person to gain wisdom that comes from God. You need to renew your understanding of God and his ways through continuous reading and interacting with His word. You must also apply the ideas learnt in the present circumstances to avoid stagnation. It takes personal effort to be wise and favor from God to sustain insight.
