Getting Marriage Records in New York can be can be obtained; however, there are processes on how to request for it. There are several kinds of marriage reports so it is important that people should know where to claim such and how to claim it. Also, marriage record is an important document since it provides a lot of information which can be of use. This is mostly true especially if one is trying to work on genealogy.

One significant use of this record is you will be able to know the maiden name of the groom's wife. Such information is usually kept away from public access. Moreover, you can trace the family history of the married couple. A scenario would be if you are trying to find family records, one can realize the complete name of both wife and husband. Another privilege is that you would know how old they were when they tied knots and said their "I do's". Aside from their ages at that time, another data that you will find useful is the date when they applied for their marriage license. You just have to mail or request it from the city clerk and just mention the town where you think that the marriage occurred. There is a processing fee amounting to $30.00 per request per copy. Just be informed that there might be additional charges and it would depend on the type of request that you have filed. It would also be better if you have to check more information from the Department of Health in New York, look for Marriage Certificates section.

Just be aware of the restrictions. Only the bride, groom or those people with judicial New York State Court Order documentation can request for a certified copy. Just be ready with the following documents once you need to request one: complete names of the bride and the groom, birth details of the couple, residence address, date and place of the marriage, a valid reason for obtaining such document along with the relationship of the one who filed the request. Without such information, request may be denied.

The records of marriage can be sent and address to Certification Unit, Vital Records Section. Priority orders can be sent directly to the office address.

Be more aware that if one wants to have a faster way in sending the Records of Marriage requests, doing online search on agencies is a faster alternative way. Just ensure they are valid agencies and these are the ones wherein they provide refunds for cases wherein one encounters issues as long as it's valid.
