It is different for everyone. When the depression is associated with trauma, it takes more time for one to express themselves.

Even though medication is readily available, one also need to make sure that the individual is having counseling. It will guide them through the process. A diagnosis like this can be rough. Not everyone knows where to turn. Medication is helpful, but it can be helpful when a person has the support of a professional therapist.
