Discovering Life Transitions Coaching And Counseling

By Sarah Wallace

While professional counseling can often be of assistance with anxiety and depression, a coach is often more suited toward dealing with life issues. When it comes to Life Transitions Coaching, most individuals are facing major changes such as a long distance move, new relationship, marriage or divorce. In addition, coaches in this area can also assist individuals in meeting a goal or goals by providing ongoing support and motivation.

The term coaching often refers to two individuals who work together in which one has more experience and expertise than the other in a specific area. For example, those whom teach on the job training, lead workshops, coach sports teams and educators are all considered coaches. In most cases, coaching only last for a specified period of time, while counseling can often be a life long process.

While many people think life coaches are a fairly new idea, different types of coaching have been around since the 1830s at Oxford University. In the earliest days, the term coach was used as slang in relation to a tutor who helped students through the exam process. As a result, the term now identifies people which can take an individual from where one is now in life and where one wants to be.

Whether assisting individuals with personal development, leading workshops, participating in movements such as est, the laws of attraction, the Human Potential Movement, adult education and positive thinking. In most cases, these individuals assist people in achieving a specific goal or goals and completing projects.

Life coaches are often considered to have a meta profession extending to clients in the areas of political affiliation, spiritual, direction, networking and social scenes, careers and professions, health concerns and personal issues. Whether or not there is an overlap in different areas often depends on the reasons for coaching as well as cultural and ethnicity.

One area in which a coach is beneficial is in regard to marriage and relationships. For, there are questions which each and every couple need answer before deciding to tie the knot. For example, questions related to career, children, retirement, travel and others can often save a marriage before it begins.

Couples going through a divorce, cross country move or being separated due to being in the military or other career are also good candidates for this type coaching. For, whether facing a long and difficult battle related to alimony, custody or personal property, having someone whom can make recommendations in relation to compromise is often beneficial. Whereas, it is also important that both parties attempt to work together in order to come to the best decision possible for all those involved.

Most often, coaching in this area can include all areas of life such as marriage and relationship, family, career, business and spiritual matters. While coaches often focus on one specific area at a time, there are some whom will work on all areas by providing a schedule and using time management techniques for each area of interest. In either case, coaches can often help individuals and couples resolve issues more quickly, achieve goals and become more successful.
