Consultant And Management Roles In Political Accountability

By Tamika Powell

In every nation, there is a government that rules over the people. The higher officials provide the structure upon which people look up to for guidance and representation. Given the extent of the responsibility, political accountability should the be encouraged among those who serve the people so that the greater good can still be fought for.

When problems arise in the context of a national issue, officials are often up on their toes trying to get to the gist of the problem. For one to perceive the issues in a political context, there has to be depth of understanding about existing issues. Given this knowledge, officers can then listen better to form sound judgment which consequently produces short or long term strategies.

Problems come and go, yet on the outside they first appear daunting enough to cause a commotion. Consultants are trained to spot problem areas to determine the root of every conflict. As long as the details are handled first to truly get the gist of the whole, officials will have better projections of their proposed solutions.

In the government, consultants are very important in the decision making process. They assist the management in making recommendations for improvement. They are well equipped with a knowledge of the world, which automatically makes them fit for this kind of job.

Accountability is therefore necessary to define the responsibilities of the people involved in the entire system. The meaning of this word relates to that of being accountable for your actions and owing up to mistakes if necessary. It takes one with initiative to man up and take responsibility for whatever decision was pushed through because of the given recommendation.

Consultants have to be updated with the facts about the issue before they begin to draft their recommendations. Otherwise, they would only be dishing out vague ideas that cannot be supported with justified measures. The management is responsible for controlling the passage of the solutions to ensure quality and meaning in the body of work.

This is the reason why recommendations should be sound ones in the first place. To build up advices and keep them safe from rejection, it is best for consultants to emulate the kind of positive behavior that is driven with initiative. In this way, they can envision the situation properly and create concrete solutions out of that well informed line of thinking.

When a problem persists even after correspondence between departments, there could be something wrong with the internal system. It could be traced to the lack of initiative from a certain group or the result of low productivity. Common sense dictates that success is only possible if everyone has the same vision of making the political organization thrive.

Consultation is instrumental for the officials to run the government properly and with the interests of the public in mind. Political accountability should also be put above other interests, because it will pave way for open communications and allow growth. In this context, visions are also essential to make the recommendations all encompassing.
