Kiss Cutting Stickers Have More Shapes

By Traci Witt

In the past stickers were made in a somewhat rudimentary process that did not allow for a large variety of shapes and sizes and definitely not types of papers. Today however with the kiss cutting process they can be made with any material needed. From shiny paper to a glitter paper to just something normal. The shapes and sizes are not limited in any way either.

With the kiss cutting process a special die cut machine or tool is used. Sometimes a laser is the bast way to make the product with less errors. Regardless of the tools used, it is the process that makes it all possible. With these types of stickers or various other adhesive style paper or labels the people who need them will not have to fight with the label in order to remove it from its backing.

The kiss cutting process uses a die cutter or usually a laser that only cuts through the very first layer of material which in these cases would be the material with the adhesive. The cutting process stops after getting through the first layer and therefore does not cut through the backing. This allows for the sticker to remain with the backing.

With this method the stickers can remain on the backing paper and can then be rolled up and dispersed like a paper towel or even presented in separate sheets. These can then be packaged and sold just how they are to whoever may need them. When it comes time for the application they can simply peel it off of the paper and apply it to whatever they want to.

With kiss cutting you can control the depth of the cut giving you many more options over the final product and how it is handled. It makes for easily changing the style and shape of the cut as well as how far down the cut goes. This way you can make an adhesive product from a lot of different backings giving the sticker more options for uses.

Teachers are big users of these products and they use a large variety of them. They might even have subscriptions or memberships to large sticker sellers who get in a very large inventory and ship them everywhere in the country. But that is not the only place that buys a lot of these types of products.

These are used from the medical to the automobile industry to the military. These come in handy for so many reasons that they have been made in almost any shape and size or color imaginable. They are used for price tags at a garage sale to the labels indicating a patients allergies in the emergency room. There is no limit to their uses.

With different cutting methods you could only use a specific type of adhesives otherwise the cutting tool might stick to the paper or even not make a solid cut because of the gummy substance getting in the way or slowing the tool down to the point that it cannot release from the material. Kiss cutting makes this a non-issue and allows for a larger variety of products.
