Tinted Lip Balm

By Nicole Smith

A beauty product used to prevent dry and chapped lips is a lip balm and this beauty product works by acting as a protective layer to lips at the same time locks the moisture in to ensure that the lips will not be dry and chapped. Since the lips is very thin, it is prone to show signs of dryness which are cause mainly by different external factors including cold weather.

Aside from making your lip's gorgeous and beautiful, it is important that you avoid having them dry and chapped. That is why despite the presence of many other lip products that offer color and shine to the lips, a lot of people opts to use a tinted lip balm, which also gives color to the lips and at the same time protect the lips from external factors that may make them dry and chapped. Also there are now lip balms that provide SPF protection which is an added benefit.

Important factors to consider in choosing the perfect tinted lip balm to use are the following:

1. The first factor is the lip balm's ingredient. Users must make sure to choose a tinted lip balm that does not contain harmful chemicals and additives that may cause lip irritation. beeswax, petroleum jelly, carnauba wax, dyes, fragrances and sunscreen are some ingredients that are used in making a lip balm.

2. Aside from a lip balm's ingredient, it is also important to consider the color of the tinted lip balm that you are going to choose. A tinted lip balm that has a color that you like and matches your personality and skin color and one that is suited for you to use on a daily basis is recommended for you to purchase. Tinted lip balms nowadays, already offers a variety of options in terms of available colors to choose from and this includes pink, nude color, fuchsia, rose and red.

3. Method of application- there are tinted lip balms that are encased in minute containers thus requiring the use of our finger tips to apply them and there are also those that are applied like a lipstick, encased in a tube-like containers. We have to make sure that we choose what is easier for us to apply especially that we may need to apply tinted lip balm often.

4. The ability of the lip balm to relieve dryness and protect and moisturize the lips is anther important factor that needs to be considered. Since it is the primary purpose of a lip balm to protect and moisturize the lips, one must be able to choose the best lip balm that offers more protection and moisturizes the lips properly. Before buying a lip balm, it is recommended to check user ratings and product reviews so that you will be able to know the common feedback of other users regarding a certain product before buying them.

Tinted lip balms differ from lip gloss since lip gloss have a shiny finish and doesn't seal in moisture to the lips unlike the tinted lip balm. Also tinted lip balms, unlike lipstick, have lighter and sheer color. Aside from that, lip balms don't stay on very long on the lips, so if you will be using a lip balm, you may need to reapply more often than when using a lip gloss or lipstick but the good thing is that tinted lip balms are more effortless to use than lipstick or lip gloss.
