Preserve Your Wedding Gown The Proper Way

By Anne Andrews

You will be the most beautiful woman on earth on the day of your wedding. Every girl in the wedding celebration will envy you and wish to someday be as gorgeous as you. Aside from your naturally good looks and the inner beauty that will radiate from within, your wedding gown will ultimately play a major role in making you the perfect-looking bride. It then deserves the utmost care that you can give for it to become a family heirloom piece you'd proudly pass on to future generations.

Hours, days, and weeks after the wedding, you will be very busy with your honeymoon or celebratory trip and be pre-occupied with preparing for your transfer to your new home. But if you sincerely value the very dress that made you strikingly lovely as well as a very worthy bride on your wedding day, arranging a trip to the professional cleaners the following day should be easy to do.

Stains caused by perspiration, body oils, make-up, food, and wine stains are all part and parcel of having a fantastic time celebrating with friends and loved ones. Know that it's really important to have your gown cleaned as soon as possible so that such stains won't permanently taint the fabric. There are commercially available cleaning solutions for clothes in the market, but since wedding gowns require specialized attention, you would be better off with leaving the job to the professional cleaners.

Professional cleaners are the experts with regards to handling special-occasion outfits. Because they have acquired the necessary skills and hands-on trainings on how to treat a Wedding Dress or a Ball Gown with careful hands, you will be sure that they will take excellent care of your gown, especially if it's made of lace or other fine material with attached trimmings. They possess the needed equipment to carry out such tasks which might otherwise take a lot of time and much effort on your part should you decide to do it yourself.

Your wedding gown is like a prized gem. It should be treated as a rare piece of art that is so unique that you can never replace or purchase anywhere else. It is therefore important that to take note of some guidelines on properly storing it. Use an acid-free storage bag prior to placing it inside a box. See to it that the gown is not exposed to sunlight so make sure to use a non-clear or windowless box. To address moisture problems, insert tissue paper between creases as well as where fabrics get in contact with each other when folded.
