I have never been a great fan of multilevel marketing companies. I really don't like my friends and colleagues making an effort to enroll me to peddle products simply because I am undoubtedly the worse salesperson in the world. Heck, I can barely get anyone to let me to give them something free of charge. Uh huh, I'm that bad. I recall the years as a teen needing to sell products for school and church to raise funds for trips, etc. I generally trusted my parents would bail me out since I would have numerous products unsold. I was certainly way too timid to go house to house and impose on somebody by compelling them to purchase products from me. But, a MLM product line did subsequently come to my attention because my son got me into a healthy weight loss program called the Advocare 24 day Challenge. However, a bit more about that topic in a minute.
Just what makes someone to be a great one on one seller? I've seen them around. I suppose it's individuals with great personalities, the capability to verbally connect well, and typically aren't worried about rejection. Well, that's three strikes against me. Even though I have done quite a bit of blogging on the internet, my articulation abilities tend to be more effective whenever I'm typing than when my mouth is moving & words are flowing. (And you are looking over this post and thinking to yourself - "you really aren't doing so well with the wording on the page either, mister)."
And what's even worse, I am a member of the clergy. And, as you probably know, if you're in the ministry, you totally need to believe that you have the most incredible information in the world that people need to hear. And I can put myself up in front of a very large number of people and sing or present a sermon and actually not be the shy person. But, when it comes to making an one on one visit with folks that I don't know, I'm still like a shy little boy. What's my problem there? But this has always been my personality.
Okay, back to the Advocare deal. Even though it's certainly secondary to my church responsibilities, I do, however, enjoy being an Advocare distributor. My son had marketed the company's health and wellness supplements for several years (which certainly helped him make extra money while in school), but all my wife and I did about the Advocare products was use them. Certainly, I was really skeptical initially, until we decided to do the Advocare 24 Day Challenge. It made such an improvement in our overall fitness, energy, and we dropped a bunch of pounds in the short period of 24 days. So, we were sold on those products.
So, this past year we decided that if we were going to use the products, then we weren't simply going to get the benefits of the health supplements, but in addition to that, make a little money. So that was a wise decision for us. With Advocare a person make money by selling and recruiting others to do so. Does Annette have better success than the shy dude here? Yep. But that's ok. I think that the quality of these health and wellness products are so great, even I can successfully market them!
So, if you find yourself to be a shy salesperson, simply make sure that your product is really strong and works well. Ours does.
Let's encourage people AND make some cash!
